If you are a green, chances are that you are not green with envy.  Greens are generally too organised and structured to be envious of anyone…other than other greens of course!! lol  Do you like analysing facts and figures?  Do you like detail?  Does the term analysis paralysis get you angry?  Do you need to know why?  Then you are predominantly green.

35% of us are greens and these are great people to have on your team.  It may take a bit of work to get them there; you have to be absolutely crystal clear with the figures – the costs, the compensation plan, the returns – but once they commit, they build strong teams.  Greens like structure, so if your opportunity is easily duplicatable with clear processes in place, they will thrive.

This is a test.  Apart from a couple of people, there has been no feedback of any of these posts – either directly on the blog or through the group.  I’m not looking for praise, that is not what this is about.  I just don’t know if the information being provided is of any value to anyone.  If not, then why am I doing it?  I am about supporting, encouraging, assisting – that’s it.  So unless there’s some feedback this will be the last post and I will close the group.  My time is too valuable to spend on something that’s clearly not benefiting anyone.

Then we had the opportunity to attend a conference put on by our company.  The big wigs are only down here once a year and I was hesitant to make the effort to attend… it was over 2hrs drive away, I am still recovering from a badly sprained ankle and fractured elbow, what would we do with our daughter so that we could both attend as I can’t drive at the moment….you know the excuses we can all come up with.

But go we did.  We made the effort.  And I am really glad that we made the effort.  I have come out re-energised and reminded of why I joined this business in the first place.  But the BIGGEST wake up call for me, was that I don’t need to be looking for lead gen tools, I just need to follow the system that we have been taught, (which is actually ridiculously simple) to genuinely connect with people and to give to give, not give to get.   Live and behave with authenticity and when the time is right for them, I will attact the right people into my business.

Your business is not going to build perfectly and consistently, but you need to be consistent in your habits and actions.  Success in MLM is not a get rich quick, overnight thing.  As I said in a previous post, I have heard it said it takes 2-5 years of diligent work to build a really successful MLM business.

I encourage all of you, whatever your business, to make the effort, to use the resources that your company provides, to attend any and all trainings that you can – I’m sure we have all heard the quote “Success leaves clues”.  Follow those clues, model the behaviour of the successful leaders in your business.

However, before I do, I want to share something with you.  I believe in and am committed to life long learning.  So I subscribe to numerous newsletters and listen in to a number of teleseminars.  I don’t always agree with what’s being taught, but I believe it is important to be informed and that there might be some little pearl that’s useful.  I had this situation the other day.

A Facebook friend put up a link to a teleseminar that was just about to start on prospect generation.  I had a bit of time on my hands so I joined in.  There was some really great information and I will share some of it with you in the future, but the speaker completely trashed the strategy that I subscribe to – being that you build relationships and then the business.  His whole take on the scenario was that if you want friends, go join a social club – building a successful MLM business is not about making friends or relationships, it is purely about numbers.  WOW!!

Let me just say, if I have trampled on that strategy, I apologise.  I realised that in my enthusiasm for my particular strategy I may have run over others.  It is not for me to make a judgement call on what is the right method, as there is no 1 right method.  Everybody needs to find the method that is right for them – mine is about creating relationships so that my prospects know that I am trustworthy, that I have THEIR interests at heart and that I will support them to help them achieve the success that they want.

So, onto the colours and personalities…..Do you just like to have fun?  Does analysing facts & figures (and compensation plans) give you relaxation?  Do you just want to be friends?  Are you on a mission and won’t let anything get in your way?  Depending on which one of these questions you relate to the most determines which personality type you are.  Now we all have a bit of each in ourselves and that percentage can vary from moment to moment, but there is usually 1 or 2 types that are most dominant.

In this post I want to focus on the go getters, the “I am on a mission”…as these are the business builders.  These are the guys (and I use that term generically) that we all want to sponsor as they will build your business for you.  They are the reds or cholerics and they are all about achievement, success and money.  They are super focussed and will not need much if any support from you.  However, there is a down side….these guys only make up about 15% of the population and you will not be able to teach them anything.

You will recognise them when they walk into a room as they command immediate respect just by their presence.  Do not keep a red waiting as they will not give you a 2nd chance.  That said though, once they are committed, they will run and be hugely successful.

As we go through these, I ask you to have a look at yourself…work out what colour you are.  Have a look at your nearest and dearest – have some fun working others out.  It is easier to start with people you know to work out colours and then you will get your confidence in working out other people.

Chances are, the people that recruited you worked out your personality type and then approached you accordingly.  Of course, you can only do that if you have gotten to know your prospect, at least a little.  It really amuses me all of these “aggressive” network marketers.  You know the ones…all you ever see in their Facebook status updates are pitches.  No building of relationships, no getting to know their potential prospects and what’s important to them.  If makes me wonder, if that is the approach that these people take, what support are they going to be to their new recruit when it comes to training?  If they don’t know what is important to their recruits, how can they encourage them to achieve their dreams and goals…their WHY’s?  I am going to be pretty blunt here folks – IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU, YOUR PRODUCTS, YOUR COMPANY OR YOUR OPPORTUNITY.  It is ALL about your prospect.  In reality, they don’t really care if you have been successful or not, what matters to them is finding out if they can be successful and what role you will play in helping them be successful.

To do this, you need to identify the personality type of your prospect.  One of the most valuable tools we have been trained in recently is personality colours.  You may or may not be aware of them…even if you are, it is still worth reviewing them.  In my next lot of blogs, I will be covering the 4 different types, how to spot them, their likes & dislikes and how to talk to them in their language.

I said in my previous post that there I believe success is related to 2 things – what are they, you ask?  Simple RELATIONSHIPS and WHY’s.

RELATIONSHIPS – It truly does not matter how good the opportunity is that your MLM company offers, it doesn’t matter how awesome the products are, it doesn’t matter if the founder of your MLM company is a great guy/gal and it doesn’t really matter how long the company has been around.  Yes, these things carry some importance, but in terms of recruiting other people into your business – they really don’t matter.  People go into business with people they trust.  Read that again!!  And how do you build trust?  By having a relationship with someone.  It may only be a brief relationship, but it is still there.  Your recruit has to believe what you say and they can only do that if you get to know each other.  So, while spamming everyone with you Facebook status pitches my catch the odd bite, in the main it is just going to cheese people off!!  Take an interest in other people, learn about them, get to know them – understand how your product/company might assist them.  And ALWAYS be open to the possibility that your product/company is NOT for everyone!!  Because it’s not.  And you might just find that even if someone does not want to join you, they may refer others because you have established a great reputation.

The second bit is your WHY’s.  Building a successful MLM business is a simple process, but it is not an easy process – take note of the differences there.  You will hit speedhumps, you will have times when you have trouble recruiting (well for most of us anyway!!).  When you do have those challenges, you need at least 1, preferable 2 or 3 BIG WHY’s for doing it.  The Why’s have to be big enough that they will keep you going when you want to quit….and there will probably be times when you will want to quit.  I have heard it said that to build a successful MLM business, you need to give it 2-5 yrs of diligent work.  It is NOT a get rich quick scheme…it’s a get rich for a long time scheme   You might think 2-5 yrs is a long time, but how long would you spend in a ‘traditional’ job gaining experience and getting promotions? 10, 15, 20 years?  2-5 sounds a whole lot better to me.

I am going to share with you my Why’s – as there have been numerous times that I have wanted to quit (and have quit several companies!!)  I hope that it will help you to work out yours..

• With my hubby I founded a charity called breastANGELS that aims to fund breast reconstruction both for women post breast cancer and also as a preventative measure.  I just want to be able to work on breastANGELS full time, however I will never take a wage from breastANGELS, so I need another source of income
• I want to live on the beach…and I mean on the beach!!  There is a fabulous piece of land where we could build our dream home and sanctuary…but it ain’t cheap!!  It’s not about the material side, it’s about watching the full moon rise over the water, it’s about seeing the storms build out at sea, it’s about listening to the waves….I could go on and on…
• Making sure that all the important people in my life are taken care of financially.  I don’t want anyone I love to have to struggle for money.  Building a successful MLM business is not for everyone, however through my success, I can share it with them and make their lives easier

Some people will also say commitment, perserverance, dedication etc are important and they are correct.  However for me, these come under the Why’s banner.  If your Why’s are big enough and important enough to you, the other criteria will come.

So, take some time, work out your Why’s and then start building your relationships.  I’m not saying you won’t be successful if you don’t, I just believe that you will have much greater success this way.

Thought this is going to be easier than running discussions on Facebook.  Would prefer notes or longer status options, but that it not available to us in Groups, so here we are

I want to backtrack, just for a mo, to fill you in.  Those of you who don’t know Reid & I might be wondering about the name Magik Mentoring.  The past few years have been an awesome journey of self discovery for us.  My sister Bess (Liz to the rest of the world) was a huge supporter in this journey and totally encouraged us to live our dreams and find our life purposes.

Sadly, Bess passed away from breast cancer in February 2008. The Magik  brand and logo has been created from a tattoo that Liz had done from a concept she had drawn. The colours symbolise the colours of the chakra, the wand was for the magic that you can create and it sparkles as “a little bit of glitter will fix anything”!

By incorporating it into our logo, we are honouring Liz, but also committing to continue our journey of growth and self discovery.  We also commit to assisting others on their journeys.

Now on to Magik Mentoring and how it can help you – after all that’s why you are interested.  Yes?  We aim to give you some questions and suggestions to get you thinking about how you can be more successful.  Simple as that.

You have hopes & dreams and that you believe building a successful MLM business will help you achieve.  We are no different.  Otherwise, why would we all get involved?  But stop for a minute or 2 and REALLY think WHY?  Why did you get involved?  Why are you still there?  Was it the promise of riches?  Was it your sponsor?  The process for building your business is simple, right?  Recruit people and then they recruit others?  Nothing complex in that is there?  So why does this industry have a 95%  failure rate? (yes you read right)
